Raja started her dance education at the age 13. She has a background in Ballet and Jazz, along with Japanese martial arts training. In her teen years, She was part of the Arabian Nights Dance Troupe of Philadelphia under the tutelage of Lebanese dance teacher Marcella Nasser.  Making her professional debut at the Middle Eastern Restaurant of Philadelphia at age 18, she quickly moved on to the Casablanca Restaurant of Warrington, Pa, being one of the first dancers of the roster of the famed “Casa Girls”, where she continued to work throughout her college and graduate school years.

 

 

Throughout her twenties and thirties, Raja also worked countless private gigs (stage shows, Arabic weddings, and other corporate events)  8s well as other Middle Eastern restaurants of New Jersey, New York, Pennsulvania Delaware, Maryland and Florida.  She has encompassed the globe with her dance – dancing and studying dnce in Jamaica, Turkey, Egypt and Japan. 

 

 

Raja has also modeled for the Patriot Girls and graces the cover of “Belly Dance Basics” (where she is also featured throughout the book) by Lauren and photographed by Sarah Skinner. Raja was featured in a video production, “Belly Dance Drum Solos”, produced by ShakeUmUp Productions.  One of Raja’s highlights as a model (at age 40 no less) was a photoshoot by Mike Brochu, the leading Glamour/Fashion/Fitness photographer.

 

 

Now in semi-retirement due to a health condition, having had a performance career of over thirty years,  Raja is now transitioning into teaching and will be making a dance video/biography in the future. Raja is currently a Special Victims Unit detective in New Jersey.
